OEP presents the Horizons and Futures lecture series

20 Aug 2008

As new economic issues (such as climate change, the credit crunch, media reports of recession, and higher prices and costs) affect the business climate in Oxfordshire and across the UK, the OEP is aiming to use its position as a network of networks to provide accessible and relevant information to business representatives within the county.

The OEP is hosting a series of free events entitled “Horizons and Futures” about future trends affecting businesses in order to stimulate discussion on how the OEP should be responding. The series will cover:

  • The current situation in the UK and Oxfordshire; what macroeconomic difficulties businesses face
  • National and local trends emerging and future challenges according to economists and futurologists
  • Previous attitudes to economic development: what has worked and what we have learned
  • Success stories: award-winning, talented business-owners in Oxfordshire sharing their experience and advice
  • The role of the OEP, its relationship with its partners, and how it can fill gaps in business support.

Attendees will have access to leaders in the fields of forecasting, politics, and economics, as well as a chance to network with representatives from business support organisations and MPs. They will also have the opportunity to weigh in on strategy development for the county and make their concerns heard.

Our experts range from academics to entrepreneurs to politicians giving a wide array of insight, with special focus on issues affecting Oxfordshire, including:
