Our purpose is to challenge and support local authorities, the private sector, the media, charities, grassroots organisations and members of the general public in Oxfordshire to accelerate all their efforts to overcome the county’s digital divide.
The Internet is a hugely empowering tool. But many of those who stand to benefit the most from the democratising power of the web are yet to engage with technology at all. Large numbers of the county’s population are offline – of those many are also ‘socially excluded’ – mostly the elderly, the long-term unemployed or families with children.
In addition to addressing the problems of digital deprivation in Oxfordshire the Task Group aims to persuade the public and private sectors to invest in digital infrastructure to both save money and make money
