OEP forges international connections for Oxfordshire businesses

BIOMED-Connect (London) – Successful collaborations at the franco-british meeting place for Medical diagnostics and equipment

On October 12th 2009, the first edition of the BIOMED-Connect proved a successful meeting
place for French and UK players in the fields of medical diagnostics and equipment.
Sud de France Export, as the Southern French Trade Commission’s organiser, was pleased to invite all delegates to “BIOMED-Connect”. This event was aimed at all those involved with medical diagnostics and medical equipment who wished to meet their industry colleagues and build new relationships.

Up to 100 meetings took place at the day-long event, held in London at the Languedoc-Roussillon trade commission office. Several of the industry’s brightest French organisations were present, including Bio-Rad Laboratories, Cisbio International (in vitro diagnostic biological biomarkers), CNRS (detection of mutation and theranostics), Genepep (therapeutic peptide specialist), Proteus (discovery, engineering and manufacturing of proteins of industrial interest), Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Council (Bio-Health Innovation), Skultech (Genomic biomarkers for diagnostic/drug co-development), and Sysdiag (diagnosis of human diseases).
Eight inter-regional French delegates with European ambitions had successful meetings with both public- and private sector organisations from the UK.

The EuroMeDiag workgroup, part of the Eurobiomed competitiveness cluster on human health, was spotlighted at the evening conference.  As the first successful collaboration Euromediag has recently submitted a European project in collaboration with Mr. Jeremy Nicholson, Chair in Biological Chemistry, from Imperial College, London.

Mr. David Doughty, Chief Executive of OxfordshireEconomic Partnership, had very fruitful discussions with Languedoc-Roussillon Regional Council, which
will lead to closer partnership working between theBiopartnering Londres Octobre 2009 (4)
two regions in the future.

introductory meeting Oxford Expression
Technologies (OET Ltd), an Oxfordshire based
company, has already followed through into
further meaningful discussions with Sysdiag and
mutual collaboration is now set to follow.”
